Dual Flush Toilets
For situations where dual flush toilets are installed in separate men's and women's restrooms, care should be taken in calculating the true water savings and any associated paybacks. Because the liquid waste option is rarely used when urinals are present, the average gpf of a dual flush toilet installed in a men's room is very close to the full flush volume. As a result, the higher costs of a dual flush toilet in this situation will not be paid back because there are little water savings. It may be more cost effective to install a regular ULFT toilet, or, to achieve real water savings, an HET model with a single, standard low flush volume.
