The neighborhood case studies crosses project scales and guideline systems. They represent some of the most innovative projects that a holistic approach to sustainable living. The research for these projects was part of the Sustainable Housing Research in Korea project in partnership with Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea and was funded by the Korean Government. BedZed, Sutton, England | new construction
BedZed is the first large-scale, high-density housing project to attempt a zero energy design. Highlights include: an electric car-share program powered by photovoltaic arrays, building orientation and site design to minimize surface area, and minimized potable water use of 20 gallons per person per day. |
